Terms of Use
Introduction
Welcome to What If App ("the App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Use.
If you do not agree, please discontinue using the App immediately.
1. General Description
What If App is an entertainment and self-reflection tool. It generates narrative, hypothetical, and decision-support style messages based on the text you enter.
Responses are generated algorithmically using third-party AI services, accessed through our secure backend via providers such as OpenRouter (which may include models from OpenAI and others).
The content provided by the App does not constitute professional advice and must not be used as a substitute for medical, legal, financial, psychological, or any other professional consultation.
2. Data Privacy & User Information
We take privacy seriously. The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not store personal data such as your name, email, or phone number on our own servers.
When you submit a question, the text you provide is:
- Sent from your device to our secure backend server.
- Relayed from our backend to our AI provider (via OpenRouter and its integrated model providers).
- Used only to generate the requested answer and then discarded.
Our backend acts as a technical relay ("proxy"). It processes your question ephemerally in memory and does not store it in a persistent database, does not log the content, and does not build personal profiles.
We do not attach direct identifiers such as your name, email, or advertising ID to the text you send.
For more details about data handling, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
2A. Telemetry & Error Reporting
To keep the App stable and understand where things break, we use telemetry and error reporting tools, including Sentry, to collect crash reports, server errors, and performance metrics.
The telemetry we collect may include:
- Application crashes and stack traces
- Server-side exceptions and error details
- Performance traces for requests and outbound HTTP calls
- Automatically collected SDK "breadcrumbs" related to app and network activity
- Non-identifying environment and device metadata (app version, OS version, basic host information)
- Application-level tags such as generated_style, generated_rarity, and answer_outcome, used solely to diagnose generation failures
We do not send your raw questions or the full text of your answers to Sentry, and we actively avoid sending personally identifying information (PII).
Wherever possible, we redact or remove request bodies, secrets, and other sensitive values before telemetry is sent.
These telemetry tools are used strictly for troubleshooting, maintaining service stability, and monitoring performance.
Their processing is also subject to the providers' own terms and privacy documentation.
By using the App, you agree that such technical and diagnostic data may be collected and processed for these purposes.
3. AI-Generated Content
All responses are AI-generated, probabilistic, and may be fictional, abstract, or symbolic.
They may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your specific situation.
You agree that:
- You are solely responsible for any decisions you make based on the App's content.
- The creators of the App provide no warranty as to the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any response.
- You will not rely on the App as a sole source of truth for important life, medical, legal, financial, or safety-related decisions.
4. Sensitive Content Disclaimer
The App includes safeguards designed to reduce harmful content, including topics related to self-harm, violence, abuse, and illegal activity. However, no automated system is perfect.
The App must not be used for crisis intervention or emergency help.
If you experience thoughts of self-harm, harm to others, or any other crisis, contact local emergency services or a professional hotline immediately.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creators of the App disclaim liability for any harm, loss, or damage arising from reliance on AI-generated content.
5. In-App Purchases
The App offers:
- Consumable in-app purchases ("Answer Refills")
- Subscription-based access (e.g., "Unlimited Access")
All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's payment, billing, and refund policies.
We do not store your payment information.
All billing and payment details are handled directly by Apple.
6. Intellectual Property
All design elements, user interface components, visuals, text (excluding AI-generated responses), branding, and internal logic of the App are the intellectual property of the creators of What If App.
You may share AI-generated content for personal, non-commercial purposes (e.g., posting a screenshot on social media).
Any commercial use of the App, its branding, or its outputs requires prior written consent.
7. App Availability
We may modify, update, or discontinue the App (in whole or in part) at any time without prior notice.
We are not liable for:
- Downtime or temporary loss of access
- Technical issues related to devices, OS versions, or connectivity
- Outages or delays caused by AI providers, payment processors, or infrastructure partners
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creators of the App are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your inability to use the App
- Reliance on AI-generated content
